The lake at my doorstep. Stillness in the air. And a sense that nothing needed my attention — except the moment itself.

I barely understood the lyrics, but that didn’t matter. The feeling of the song was enough. That flute melody, the rhythm, the energy of the band… everything pointed to a country where the sky seemed to stretch endlessly.

What I find most beautiful about the culture of the Kulin Nation is their relationship with land. They do not see themselves as owners, but as caretakers. Land, water, animals, trees — all are part of a network of relationships.
